Welcome To The Lift

Hey there,

Something shifts in May.

March was about putting your feet down. April was about trusting the ground enough to lift one hand off it. May is when you finally let the heart come up.

This is the part of the year Minneapolis has been waiting for. Not the warm part. The coming-back part. Patios opening for the first time. The light staying past dinner. People you haven't seen since November appearing in your life again like nothing happened. The deck weather every Minneapolitan starts checking the forecast for in February.

This month's pose is High Lunge with Backbend. Strong base, open chest, breath doing the lifting. It's also the most honest pose for the moment we're in. We're not stable yet. We're not hiding either. We're upright. Reaching. Letting the heart be the part that leads.

Sutra 1.33 says: cultivate friendliness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. Friendliness for those doing well. Compassion for those who aren't. Joy for those you might be tempted to envy. Equanimity for the rest. Patanjali wrote this two thousand years ago and it still holds up as a practical guide.

The throughline I keep coming back to is from James Clear. Walk slowly, just don't walk backwards. May doesn't have to be an explosion. You don't owe the season a big comeback. You just have to keep going. Show up. Open a little. Let the breath do what it's going to do.

See you on the floor. Annie

PS-

He is back May 10th! We closed out April with a special treat, a sound bath by Robert Allen. You can find out more about him here: https://resonatingpalms.com/

If you're doing your core today, same. Let's go, week 2!!
